Gas cap light on dash question.
I have an 02 Sport Trac 2wd with a Gas Cap indicator light on the dash.The vahicle has 150k on it, and I replaced the oem cap years ago in favor of the locking cap.
I figured there would be a drive cycle once the new cap was installed. On initial installation of the new cap, I drove it non stop for 70miles, and the light is still on. So, I continued driving over the next couple of weeks, and the light is still on.
Four questions; 1-does the gas cap light also deal with something else besides the cap?
2-Is there a drive cycle to allow the code to self reset, and if so, how many miles is the drive cycle?
3-Does the code need to be reset thru the use of the OBD-2 scanner, such as in the unit Autozone uses to read codes?
4-Lastly on an unrelated issue. Where can I find the factory door code inside the truck? I cant remember what we put in there. And after a medical issue, I dont remember much sometimes!
