I've noticed a sharp decrease in fuel economy (I'm getting about 8 mpg, rated about 16 combined) and a fluttering noise on acceleration, so I had a diagnostic run on my truck at Advanced Auto.
The codes given were:
P0133 O2 Sensor, Bank 1, Sensor 1.
P0430 Catalytic System Efficiency, Threshold Bank 2.
I was also told that I have an exhaust leak, and bad serp belt.
Being on a Save and DIY budget, what can I do to mitigate the problems?
(biggest issue being fuel economy)
Does this sound typical of a certain problem?
Any illegal air (crack in exhaust) will cause the O2 sensor to signal the PCM/ECU to add more fuel.... (fuel consumption) and may trigger the other issues as the ECU cannot bring the Fuel Trim into spec....
This is where LIVE DATA SCANNERS pay for themselves, you see the actual sensor data not just a triggered code...
First thing you need to do is fix the exhaust leak,
then clear the codes and see what returns..........Philip
