I installed a Dennis Carpenter wiper motor conversion kit #7C-17508 on my 48 pickup this week. The wipers rotate towards and away from each other vs. being in sync from left to right. What have I done wrong?
With a single motor it would have to be the way the linkage is made or put together. If it came put together already then it must be made to work that way.
Can you post some pics of the linkage or the link to the kit you bought from DC?
Here's one way to post pics.
Go to Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.
While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg
Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).
When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).
Ok, I am obviously not understanding this. If you have them in the parked position (at the bottom of the windshield, both pointing to the passenger side) to begin with where do they go when you turn them on? It seems like the one that goes the wrong way would be going down into the cowl.
I am guessing that you haven't contacted Dennis Carpenter yet.
He's saying both are to the middle when parked, and go to the outside when started. Some wipers are that way, but I don't think any Bonus Built's can work that way. BlueCat, help us out here, what year truck do you have?
Maybe the wiper motor was made for an old Chinese truck?
The only explanation that makes sense since on a 48 the wipers were not set up to go opposite directions. If they were the bezels would be close to each other near the middle of the windshield.
Guys, It's a 48 as I think you now know. Park has the wipers straight up and down on the windshield. When I go to the first speed each blade goes towards the outside of the windshield about 90 degrees and then come back to the park position and then proceeds to go 90 degrees towards the center of the windshield. Obviously, they then collide.
Sounds like your kit is for a different application.....wrong parts in the wrong package maybe? Does yours look anything like the one in the pic above? Have you talked to DC about this yet?
I like that design better than the bulky one that I got from LMC/Vintique where you have to modify the driver's-side defroster duct.
It almost sounds like your linkage is out of sync. Based upon the picture that Ross posted it should work correctly. I would check the linkage. Like JRJ said pictures would help.
