Since the batteries are joined together, can a guy hook up the charger to say the drivers battery and have the assumption that the passenger battery will get charged equally??? Or should a guy go out and swap the charger over to the other side a few hours into the charging process???? I got the truck on the charger and would rather not wake up at 3am to swap the alligator clips over to the other battery lol!!! Makes for a PITA to get back to sleep, especially since its cold as all heck around here!!!!!!
I recently bought a Battery Minder trickle charger. Follows is some recommended information from their user's manual.
To properly charge or maintain multiple batteries they should all be the same type (gel, flooded or AGM) and condition. It is OK to mix deep cycle and starter. Charge each battery individually before connecting together. Never connect batteries at different states of charge. The charged battery will rapidly transfer energy to the discharged battery possibly causing catastrophic failure.
They will both charge evenly when hooking it up to only one battery.
This is correct.

This is also correct, but the key point is "before connecting them together."
