Just wanted to thank a fellow FTE member - Havi - I had mentioned that I was looking for a 226 flatmotor, a week or so later Scott sent me a CL link for a 226 up near Deluth MN - It was rebuilt some time ago and was sitting around in the garage $80.00 - I asked Scott to check it out - No manifolds starter gen etc, .30 over pistons turned over by hand and looked good - It also came with a extra new head and a new crankshaft still in cosmolene - He grabbed it up and took it home - He arranged shipping, boxed it up and put it in the mail all on his dime - I sent out the money + a tip, For The Fish - I will have it all in hand in Erie, PA next Mon/Tue for $181
The last engine I looked at here they wanted $400 and it was stuck
Scott went above and beyond in pulling the whole thing together:
Again
Thank You Scott
Ain't it great when a plan comes together, Havi, you da man. Yes there are alot of guys on here that go above and beyond which makes me think there is still hope for us in the end.
It's for the F2 - It has a slight rapping sound, front and rear seal leaking, etc
The one Scott fornd is being dropped at the machinest for a check out and fixed as needed - Next spring I'll pull the not so original one (The F2 is a 52 and should have an OHV) from the F2 and add the parts as needed, then slip the fresh one in with a possible trans swap- The the old one goes to the shop for it's turn to be rebuilt. I'll see about finding the stuff needed to make it a complete runner and figure out what I'll do with it
If I do it this way there's more of a chance to get it back on the road in under 10 years
Nice to know there are quality folks on this site! Good job helping a friend (that you may have never met) long distance. I had a similar experience with Josh Madsen, he went above and beyond to help me look for an express bed for my F-3, along with some other things I needed....thanks Josh!
It's folks like this that make this hobby great.

Scott, Dick, sounds like a great deal. I'd have snapped that engine up in a sec if I saw it. I have a spare sitting in my shop for my '49 F-2, the one in the truck puffs a little and the oil pressure is a little low but she made it up and down the mountains in KY and got us back home. Those 226 flat sixes are tough little engines.

BTW, Dick has a physical connection to Scott and I'd bet he didn't even know it. I've had the pleasure of meeting both men, at different times, so I think you can say they've met through me. I love being able to meet up with FTErs whenever I get a change, either by stopping by their places on my limited travels or when the occasional FTEr stops by my place on their travels. It's always been a good experience. This is a great group of people.
Just paying it forward. A great group of guys and gals indeed, including the seller who hung onto this engine for the number of years that he did. He also has a bunch of old Power Wagons, and a '36 M&H chassis. He's one of those types that goes to auctions and buys up old stuff just so it won't go to the scrapyard. I have to admire that.
Since this thread has turned into a "thank the good guy members" type thing I will elaborate on what I posted above.
Albqu F-1, Ross knew I was looking for a monkey face F-4 and found one almost in his back yard. Ross sent me the link and volunteered to look at it. Ross looked at the truck and I am in the process of buying it and having it shipped. A big thanks, Ross and reps to you.
