I have a XLT V10 4X4. My weight before I started modding it and adding bumpers was 7240, weight at a Cat scale.
Now, that weight is 7780 with all the junk I have added to it, and will probably get a little heavier this winter.
BTW, to understand how my original weight was 7240 when the declared curb weight without options is 7230 for that vehicle, take a look at the holdbacks that I listed above.. For the 4X4 V10, it says ther is a 270lb Allowable weight. This means that the vehicle, when built and no options is REALY 7230 -279 =6960. But the options added to turn it into XLT trim added 280lbs to the base vehicle, bringing the weight up to 7340.
When it comes to the diesels, I think Ford just kinda looked the other way. LOL. But, in reality, there was a holdback amount for the 7.3 diesels, just not on the 6.0.
Really great info Bion! One thing doesn't look right though:
How would a V10 weigh over 500 lbs less than the V8? Do you mean 6742?
Those 2 are probably switched and the factory might not include gas , oil, extras, and water (like they do with the snowmobiles). I think the actual owner tickets from weigh stations etc would be more realistic unless you want to compare them to other new vehicles.
I think a cheap model 4WD with a v-10 and no liquids in it is about 7,200 pounds from the factory, and an average one on the street with gas etc. but nobody in it is closer to 8,000 pounds.
If I recall correctly, I still have the tag somewhere, the shipping weight tag that was in the X when it came off the delivery truck was 8400 and something pounds....Somewhere around here or in the dash I still have it. At the time I had a 6.5L Turbo 4x4 2500 Suburban and I thought "good god, this thing weighs a ton more than the Sub"
Holy Cow! That was supposed to be 7400 lbs..not 8400..that would weigh more than my dually! One thing is for sure....they are heavy beasts!!
Ordnance and equipment in a 25' trailer from VA to Idaho. Ill be pulling it home in February when I finish up here. Shifted the weight around some and added another 5K pounds. That was a preliminary weigh to see how it was set up.

So is that right, you have over 10,000 lbs on your rear axle that's rated for 7,000 lbs?
Yeah, pretty much. Thats why I had to move weight around and did a preliminary weigh in. Good thing I upgraded those springs huh!
Good call with the weight ticket, that's the only way to truly know. I'll be doing the same this afternoon once we're completely up and running. I have over 1,200 lbs of heavy items in the very tail of the trailer to keep my tongue weight within reason, and from experience with this kind of tongue jack I think I'm right around 1,000 lbs.
I'm going to be getting weights first without the WD kit and then with it installed to verify weight transfer. Will be posting another thread with this info tonight!
Cant wait to see it! I just had the center of balance off and it pushed the weight forward. Didnt squat the rear though but it was handling funny so I was sure it was not distributed right.
