little cool this morning at 41*, today's task is to move the taillights on a trailer. while im at it, weld the cracks in the frame caused my the stupid fender design and plate the cracked area to give better support for the fender mounts.

With that logo on the fenders, it has to be.

Gotta' be for something a lot bigger than a jumping-jack type, though.

Didn't know they made their own trailers, but it seems logical to ensure they would hold up to the weight.

Probably for something like this:

Took Aidie to a school mates birthday party. Once the kids went in, no one came out for all 2 hrs... Not sure that's a healthy way to run a party. I think running outside with *****/bikes/shovels would be... anyway... $350/2hrs, really?

Shame they weren't using Powerstrokes...

haha all you guys are close, its a 4x8' deck with F range tires so its built to haul some weight. nowa days its job is to move big knack gang boxes and any of the 3 scissor lifts its owner has...

and i know how you guys love pictures.... so i took some just for y'all!

new front amber marker

which replaces this one

some light bucket/ fender mounds a made up. 3"x4" 3/16" wall welded to a 6"x6"x3/16" plate

light buckets getting there end caps welded on then ground down to look seamless

left rear box finished

old taillight location on the left rear, now the red marker light resides there.

torched off the left front fender mount

new left front mount welded into place

that's all i got finished today, was the left side. my goal was to get both sides done but i ran out of daylight. (working outside sucks) but i got the right side light bucket and front fender mount built. so all i have to do is torch the old ones off and weld the new on and rewire the lights and ill be done!

the reason for the 6"x6" plate is that the main chassis tube is 2"x6"x1/8" thick. and the fender angle iron brackets were welded to the 6" side. the weight of the fender and the trailer being sprung for a heavy weight causes the fenders to stress the main chassis tube and crack it on the tall side. the cracks have been welded over the years and they just come back. so i welded up the cracks again and laid a 6"x6"x 3/16" plate over that and welded it to the chassis. now the load of the fenders is dispersed over the tube more efficiently.

ya who ever designed the trailer was a moron.... "lets hang a huge! fender on 2 pieces of 2"x2"x1/8" angle steel on the 6" side of a 1/8" wall tube..."

should not be an issue any more i hope.

Happy Veteran's Day FTE! If you are a veteran, you can get a free meal at Applebee's, Texas Steakhouse, California Pizza Kitchen, Olive Garden, or Chili's. Tomorrow morning you can get free pancakes at Denny's, and a pizza at the California Pizza Kitchen. Enjoy, and thank you for your service.
