I went out this morning and truck did not start, took my edge tuner and checked some sensors and seen my AFRP was .5 psi. I figured fuel pump because i could not hear it turn on and did a quick look online and seen people having issues with the driver module for them. i pulled mine and seen it has rusted through the back of it and let moisture in. im hopping that when i get the part this afternoon its all that it needs and im back going.
the reason for the post is to tell people to drop your spare tire and remove the module mounted to the support brace and check it. if its still in good shape paint the back to protect it and put some washers between it and the brace to get an air gap between the two. looks like the new replacements come with that spacer built into the bolts but if you can save a tow bill i would recommend it. it only is two bolts and takes no longer than 15 min.
Yeah this is an extremely common problem. The new module I think they have a better backing on it to help stop this from happening again. Easy fix and if it ran yesterday and then not today I would bet that's the only issue you have.
Thats what happened to mine, except I caught it before it left me stranded. I ordered mine from rock auto. Just about 70 bucks with shipping. Its a doorman and it came with special bolts and bushings to keep it elevated from the frame to prevent any corrosion. It also had a nice paint job.
Is this problem more prevalent in areas where they get a lot of snow and put salt on the roads? Should I be concerned if I never drive on salted roads?
THANKS!
I would coat the thing with a good rust preventative. Mine sits up thar in the frame infront of the tank, an I'm thinking lower it and paint it some more too. 2011
