cam ?

if running a cam with factory valvesprings don't go over .500 lift, coil bind valve spring possible. several cams out their like 260 hi energy or 268 hi energy. comp cams sells some good cams. i personally use MPG Heads - Index for all my cams and really like. one of the tricks on making torque is upgrade to the correct header size. a header with 1 5/8" tubes and maybe a 2.5 to 3" collector max. if running 4500 rpm or less all the time this is a good place to start. need some more info to better setup. about 2.25 exhaust max if 400 maybe 2.5" exhaust for towing. several factors com into play when setting up a engine for low/midrange torque above oem application. catch you later.

Get new retainers for the springs. The exhaust will have rotators on them and you won't want to use them with a new cam and springs.

cam shaft!

give MPG Heads - Index a call. scott can cut you a cam for your situation and he does it in house at shop in englewood colorado. IF your not familiar with him you can read up on some of his engines in Engine Masters - Racing Engines & Engine Tech - Popular Hot Rodding Magazine has been a long time competitior and does fords, good luck. can never have enough information these days. many good ford guys and MPG is just one of them out thier.

carb stuff.

www.quickfuel carb.com read about annular boosters for btm end/mid range torque. i speak of this stuff all the time and not many listen. but if you get the chance get educated on this paticular componet in carbs. the booster has a big effect on carb and application. the tech section speaks specifically on this and what it does to the fuel with or without this upgrade. i personally run this and been doing for about 10 yrs now and its been around for a long time before me. some know about and many don't. good luck and drop a message if any questions. 4wd stuff.
