Problems Starting Truck.

Howdy

I am having problems starting my F150. When I turn the key to the on position I have power, lights turn on etc. When I turn the key to start it, I hear a single click noise and lose all power.

After I lose power it stays that way for about a minute with the key in the on position. After a minute of no power with they key in the on position, the power turns on again.

I believe the starter and solenoid are good. Any ideas what could be the problem? Bad ground?

Thanks!

Clean your battery cable clamps first!!!! If that doesn't do the trick check the rest of the battery cables,, BOTH ends!!!

Sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere, could be on either positive or negative side. Check all your battery cables for loose connections and corrosion and clean all connection points with a wire brush or sandpaper so they have a nice clean metal on metal contact. You might also have cables that need to be replaced. If the cables are all original, It wouldn't be a bad idea to just replace them all anyway.

Check cables

I had a similar problem and after cleaning all connections replacing some parts, I found it to be the positive battery cable. Even though I cleaned and re-stripped the wire and everything , there was corrosion inside the cable about an or 2 up cable. Cut it off re-stripped and hooked everything up, problem solved.
