Gas leak

I pulled into a friends driveway the other day and when I got out we smelled gas in front of my truck. Popped the hood and took a look, didnt see any obvious leaks but found a small fresh gas stain under the truck. We cranked it up and looked and never saw any drips or even where it might have came from. All the hoses and lines/fittings were dry. Havent had a chance to get back under it but it occurred to me while looking at another thread that the pump may be failing. Isn't there a weep hole on the pump body that will allow gas to drain if the pumps fails so it doesnt enter the crankcase (which it often does anyways)? I havent looked at one recently to confirm but seems like there is. If so, this might explain the obvious gas stain under the truck but no sign of a leak yet. The dipstick looked fine with no sign of gasoline contamination.

Yup, fuel pumps have weep holes to keep the oil out of the gas when the diaphragm ruptures.
