BTS Transmission Question
I am in the process of installing my new BTS transmission in my 2000 7.3 Excursion and I have a question. This being late on a Saturday night I don't have the option of calling Brian at BTS so I thought I would ask here. The transmission shipped with plastic plugs in the cooler bypass fittings. When I removed the plug nearest the front of the transmission a little yellow o-ring came out with it. When I went to put the o-ring back in the fitting I noticed a bunch of what looks like vasoline or some other type of grease in the fitting. I stuck the tip of a small screw driver into the fitting and it is completely packed with this "grease". Does anyone know why all this grease would be in that fitting? Should I clean it out before I put the line on? I checked the other fitting near the rear of the tranny and it is clear, no grease there.

Thank you for the quick reply. I thought that may be the case, but it just seemed like a lot of it in there.
