Totally deleting the roof rack question.

I never plan on using the roof rack so I removed it and just put the bolts back in their holes. My question is that do I need to add o-rings or nylon washers or is it fine how I have it? It looks to be sealed off around the opening.

I've had mine the same way for a few months now, no problems.

Hahah that was my intent... It's been sitting in the garage ever since.

Im going to get a cargo carrier for the hitch and mount a large tote to it for camping and big travel trips.

very nice. I would put a small piece of rubber under each bolt. Water leakage can do a real number on paint and internals

Good thread. I've been contemplating removing mine also. Are the roof racks worth anything? May try and sell the rack if it is.

I just removed the cross rails. I looked at an Excursion with all the rails removed. it looks like an E series van! not that that is bad, just different!
