look at the temp gauge on the dash. IF you have water and its not hot in the heater hose, either the water is not flowing thru the radiator (plugged) or the water is not hot.
changed thermo
opened plenum and can see the blend door opening and closing
top rad hose is getting hot.
temp guage is in the safe areas. ie says it is heating up
i am flushing the radiator tonight hope that might help
water pump. I removed the heater hose from the crossover pipe and started truck. water came through but I thought it would spray every where. it just kinda bubbled out of the crossover.
I am having simular problems. From everything that I have read, it sounds as though my heater core is blocked or restricted. I do get a little heat if the blower is on the lowest speed. It also gets cooler if turn the temp control to cooler. I did back flush the heater core but did not use a good amount of pressure as I had no help at the time. I did get alot of trash out but I guess not enough. Going to try this again this weekend if I have time ans help. the only other thing I wander is if there is a vapor lock at the core. If this works I will repost. In this flush I think it is best to flush in the opposite direction of normal flow to push blockage out and not pack it in tighter.

so could this be water pump or radiator?
Thanks

Have you had the serpentine belt off? Pump running reverse? Check the install and make sure the belt follows all the pullies as per the diagram in the engine compartment. Also depending on the pumps impeller material they may corrode away if coolant is badly degraded or I would guess, if coolant system flush chemicals are used and not properly flushed with clean water after use.
good evening. i have the exact problem with my 98' expedition 5.4. i have tried all of the above to no avail. i do have a heater/ac in the rear cargo bay that is working fine, ie; my two boys don not complain about being cold. i have seen several threads discussing the possibility of a vaccum issue of a closed water/coolant control valve. for me this sounds promising if i knew said valve existed or not and if so where the little guy is hiding. the reason i mention this valve is it may have something to do with max a/c and diverting heat(or in fact stopping hot coolant) ....the family an i where on vacation, summer of 2011 down in moab so the a/c was on plenty. upon returning home to the northern colds of canada i had no to very little heat last winter up front...argh...makes for unpleasant ski trips. valve or no valve that is the question!!! let us know if the second heater core flush does the trick. mike m.
