Just sold my 2010 F150 FX4, 41,000 miles to my Son and bought a RAM 1500. My Son needed a truck, the MSRP for the same model that I had has gone up $11K and effectively $19K from what I paid in Nov 2009. Every other dealer in the area offered me $21 -23K trade in without padding the through cost to my Son, the Ford dealer that I bought it from offered $19K and wouldn't budge. It was always maintained at the dealership, no damage and always pampered. Disheartening to say the least. $1K rebate and 6.9% from Ford on 2013s and no 2012 supercabs available.
Went to the RAM dealer looking. They gave me $24K for the truck and a no charge pass through to my Son. He got it for $4K under retail and $5-6K under Ford Certified Used. Dealer took $11K off of MSRP on what would compare to a Platinum and 3.9% financing with a major bank keeping the payment the same.
I don't know why in this economy Ford is not more aggressive in their pricing. It wasn't that I could not afford the truck...I just was not going to pay that much of an increase for the same truck.
I'm still an old Ford fan but with the issues of the Ecoboost going into limp mode when accelerating onto freeways and the turbos not being covered under the 5/60000 driveline warranty, quality is taking second place to profit. Everyone else is catching up (except GM).
I knew there was a noticeable cost increase from year to year but I don't think anyone could convience me that it would be $19k or even $11k difference.
No convincing necessary Shortride. I paid $28k for the 2010 F150 FX4. The same dealer wants $48k last week for a 2013 with the same options. You do the math. I'm only reporting what occurred ... Believe it or don't.

Sticker on my truck was over 50k but I paid 36k. So that 28k you paid in 2010 I am sure was on a 40k+ truck I am sure. I dont really keep up with prices but I am pretty sure you cannot get a FX2 with no options for less than 30 even.

Right, sticker on mine was $40,500ish, got it for around 30K w/the 6.0 trade-in. I'm sure the FX4 was a few K more. Sounds like you got a good deal back then. I am liking the new Rams, I hear they are getting alot better, just not enough to buy one. One of my buddies just bought a new Ram1500 SCrew for the same reason- Ford wouldn't deal. Good luck with it, maybe stop in once in awhile and update us how its treating you

A few internet posts and a decision is made.

Can you prove this?
Anyway, congrats on your new truck. The Rams are nice looking for sure and Dodge is motivated.
I thought that sounded odd when I read that as well Tim. One of my best friends was just here with his brand-spankin' new '12 FX4 Screw EB he bought yesterday, and his older brother bought the same last yr- 2011 EB so I am curious. Haven't read anything about the turbos not being covered, but haven't heard there has been trouble with the turbos either
Turbo's ARE covered by the 160k km/100k mi powertrain warranty.
I don't think that the minor issue with condensation in the intercooler is causing Ford to loose ground. The simple fact that you can buy a new competitors vehicle for loads of cash is what makes it seem that Ford is losing market share.
You must have bought a Laramie Longhorn? Those are very nice trucks!! Enjoy!!
