STARTED THE 66 FRONT BRAKE CONVERSION....

and when I got the tires off, and looked at how the 66 I Beam looks compared to the 79 doaner I Beams....where the tie rod end bolts up to the back of the spindle on the 66, there is an arm on the 66 spindle back, that goes from front to back (looks like a small horse shoe), but there is not that same arm on the 79 I Beams!!! Will these 79 I Beams not work, or do I need to modify the 79 spindle back??
I can take photos, if nessesary....
Thanks in advance,
Goodwood

Check to see if it is the same length. The 79 beams should fit.

everything is the same, but for where that "horse shoe" thing is on the back of the original spindle.
If someone can tell me how to post photos from my folder, I will post a few pics to show you.

OK....the 79 spindel has the hole for the tie rod end built into the back of the spindle, whereas the original 66 tie rod hole is part of that horse shoe thing I am referring to that is bolted to the back of the original spindle.

As I noted in the email reply, use everything from the 79, don't mix & match and you should be fine and have a very enjoyable upgrade experience.

I'm thinking you are worried about the thickness of the part where the outer tie rod goes through the spindle/knuckle. It's addressed in my how-to: f100discs
