i recently bought a '95 f-150, still haven't gotten the chiltons for it yet. i noticed a loose wire hanging down under the glove compartment area. one of my kids had kicked it and broken it loose from the plastic bracket it was attached to. it has a female plug on the end, with "PMOS" written on it. as much as i look, i cannot find the male end. i'm not sure if it ever was supposed to be connected to something, or if it is supposed to be unattached.
you're right, of course. i must have been flashing back to my army days. should be "psom", from which i see it connects to the odometer. i'm still not sure if it should be hanging loose, though.
Click on the blue "PSOM" link in Steve's post above. It explains what's going on. Looks like it does hang loose unless you want to ground it to reset your speedo.
