Ecoboost reliabilty?

Hi Everyone

I'm reading negative comments regarding Ecoboost stalling, throttling issues, etc. Are these issues widespread?

Has anyone decided to lease and not buy an F-150 with Ecoboost, taking a "wait and see" approach?

Thanks for the feedback
Mike

You are reading the comments of a few who have had some issues with the truck. I do not believe it is as wide spread as you may believe. It is like reading reviews on amazon, more often than not the ones posting are the ones who have had issues. I have had mine since June ( I know not a long time, but I do have 6K on it now) and have had not issue one. I drive in the rain, in the fog, you nmae it and we in Seattle probably have it (except really high humidity) and no issues. Really the only issue that is unique to the Egoboost is the misfire from moisture from the intercooler. the other issue like shudder at launch and other are common to all F150s. Realize that Ford has sold many thousands of the the Egoboost F150s in the last couple of years and most have no issues. Steven

I've had mine since June 2011 and have 21000 miles on it, no issues. Driven long trips in humid conditions, heavy rain, snow etc. and mine is one of the early ones. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

ya its the old saying one bad apple spoils the bunch! i think if you go to home depot/ ace/ or Lowe's and ask the guy in the Eco boost truck as they pull up about there truck. you wont find but maybe one out of 100,000 with a legit problem!
anytime you put out mass amounts of one product theres going to be a bad one every so often! ford seems to be on it looking for the fixes on the bad ones! so i would buy one over the other goverment motor!

It doesn't seem to be affecting sales since Ford is now offering much larger rebates on 5.0 equipped trucks. I'd buy an Ecoboost truck without hesitation, but I'm holding off for the 2015 restyle and I keep my vehicles 5-6 years (unless something unforeseen happens).

I copied this from another post I did yesterday and this is my first V6 Eco Boost so far so good no problems.
I got my F 150 the end of august and have around 4500 miles and have not had any problems. Knock knock I'm hitting my head so not to jinx my experience! I had a 2002 7.3 and this Eco Boost will out run and out pull it with or without a 24' car hauler! The millage fact is around town going back and forth to work (3 miles) one way the MPG hangs at 17 to 17.5 MPG. On a 2 or three hour trip using the trip meter the MPG is 20 to 22.5 depending on how much the elevation changes. My brother got the exact truck he only gets 18 MPG. The difference being his has a 3.73 gear and mine 3.31. I though I should have got the 3.73 but after pulling my 24' car hauler to Florida and then to Baltimore I'm not hurt at all on performance. There is a distance that I tried my 7.3 pulling the trailer and it did what I thought was reasonable 55 MPH, a little less than a qt. mile. The Eco Boost, I left off before the same distance was reached at 70 MPH. So I don't have any complaints at all and unless you gross over 20,000 lbs there is no reason to spend the $8m + for the 6.7. Unless that is money is not any issue then go for it.

18500 trouble free miles. Purchased June 2011.

The ecoboost line-up is so wide spread right now that it's not even funny.

There are definitely some trucks with problems but as said before, likely not as wide spread as the internet would allude to.

This thread also appeared on the main page so I think we're covered here.

Wendy is just shy of 15K on her truck with zero problems. It's got a ton of power, my next truck will have the EB under the hood. Chris

My father bought a 2012 Eboost 8-9 months ago and has 24k on it already....He drives a lot....

he did have a problem with it acting up when it got on the highway, but ford replaced a Cat, put a deflector shield in and re tuned it and it has been problem free since.

And the truck freaking flat runs. ... The power is addicting.

Mine will be a year old in December and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Runs like a top and gets great fuel economy. I put a SCT 87 tune in it and the power is great, gas mileage is about the same 20-21 mpg.
