Roger,

As many people have pointed out in the MANY posts like this, the folks that are having problems are going to be the one that post. AND the ones that have had the worst experiences in getting some resolution are the ones that are going to complain the loudest.

However, in my opinion, the vast majority of owners have none to just little annoying things. The best thing you can do is ask yourself, is this the truck that I want? That is, does it meet your needs. Then, do research.

You said it was "leftover"---Why?

Do a Carfax check. Are there any problems reported?

Ask the dealer questions. Why has it not sold? Has the engine received the latest reflashes (computer upgrades)? Ask him point blank if there have been any issues with this particular vehicle. Ask for any maintenance records for service done by the dealer.

Test drive the heck out of it. Stop and go traffic. Accelerate hard into traffic. Get it up to speed on the highway. Use it how YOU would use it.

Get in it, on it, and under it. Put in it 4Hi, 4 Low. Go to another dealer and test drive a similar 6.0 F250 if you have never driven one to make sure they "feel" the same. After you go, if something seems fishy, walk away or ask the folks here their opinion.

If you drive it, I am positive you will love it. I love my Excursion with the 6.0L PSD. Not one issue. And it has 30,000 on it already. I tow a 7000 pound travel trailer. Maybe some others will chime in, but DO NOT let the issues scare you away. Look at what they are saying and who is saying it. Then, what is being done about it. Hopefully some of the folks with more knowledge than me will chime in.

All I can say is I am glad I have one. Best all around vehicle I have owned yet. Hope this helps.

my little knowledge

Hi Roger,

We are in the same boat. I just ordered my new 250 w/ 6.0. I was wondering too about the trouble. My example is another car. I bought a 2003 Corvette Conv. On Corvetteforum.com, there are a ton of people who have had some sort of trouble or another, and there are a ton who just love it. It seems after the first year MANY problems were resolved. It looks like the same thing happened with the trucks. I ran my gas 5.4l super into the ground (212,000 miles today). This truck still is strong, I just want a new one! My logic was International has been making diesels for a long, long time - they know what is going on. SURE it took some doing to get the mix of IH and Ford right, but i t looks like for the most part they are there!

GOOD LUCK!

Roger I have a F-250 crewcab have had a few problems but latest flash seem to have taken care of mostly everything seems to idle a little rough in gear at idle I love the truck wouldnt trade it for anythine except a newere one I would do some research like wigwag suggested pay particular attention to the build date I would try to at least get one built after may 2003 to be sure I had the newer injectors. My best fuel milage so far has been 14 mpg I average 12 to 13 mpg this is city driving and i have never towed anything with my truck I wish I could get 17 in town like some people claim I dont know about hiway haven had it out on the road yet just to and from work I check my fuel milage every time I fuel up religously I top it off completly to the cap replace the cap shake the truck remove the cap and top it till it wont take any more then divide the miles driven buy the gallons and I reset my trip meter every time I fill up I had a F-350 dually with 4:10 gears and 7.3L diesel it averaged about 12.6 city and 15 highway it was a 1996 model with 110,000 miles on it when I traded it with absolutly no problems at all. hope this helps
