Plug and Play Diesel Programers?
I was looking for advice on a simple application, plug and play diesel tuner... I do mostly daily driving with light towing here and there. I am not looking for maximum output so I can walk my truck sideways down the highway or to tow the Empire State building. I am looking for suggestions from people who have tuners on their trucks that still use the DPF and dont have a full exhaust systems. I was looking at the H&S XRT Pro, Superchip or the Edge system. If there is another system that I should consider please advise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Sal

I have no way to confirm or deny this but see here:

A few folks on here have had good luck with H&S DPF on tuning. Not sure about XTR but fordtuff1 had DPF on with his mini for a while.
I love my H&S Black Maxx
Well, I guess that eliminates the Superchip option... I actually just called them after reading that thread you recommended and they said that because of the Magnuson/Moss act, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson–Moss_Warranty_Act , that the dealer has to still warrantee the product? Is this a BS sales pitch or something that has validity? I mentioned the thread and he said that it was probably another board rep for a competitive product... is there anyway to cross check that? Im new to this whole forum thing but I beginning to like it. Thanks again for your help guys.
In reference to the tuners you all have...I would love to put the full systems on and have monitors everywhere. I am trying to avoid the displays on the dash as much as possible because its a company truck and just would like to keep it as incognito as possible.

That's the problem, anyone can come here and say anythign they like true or false. That's why I said I have no way to verify. Superchips could be absolutely right. We just don't know. But you could send the guy a PM and see if he gets back to you. Maybe not rule out superchips because of some un verified line on the internet. Maybe look around for some happy users.
On a different forum I though a guy was trying to bad mouth "X tuner company". He said he was on his 3rd turbo etc etc etc. Also said his dealer covered all 3 under warranty. That was enough for me to send him a PM. Long story short, I ended up talking to him on the phone and verifying the story (basically) and actually talking to his dealer.
Rant over, good luck!
Lots of great info on this forum!
This one is good, some bad too

Is there a reason you so highly recommend the H&S tuner? I called them today as well and he definitely was very knowledgeable about the product but what about their product makes it superior?
Thank You,
Sal
A couple years ago my dad's 2004 **** a EGR cooler & Ford tried to say it was because he had a Banks Monster Exhaust (NO tuner or anything)...BS !!
Just so happens we have a lawyer in the family that informed us & that dealer about the Mag-Moss law, long story short Ford fixed the truck free of charge.
Now i would be careful about a installed Tuner though, if it goes to the dealer under warranty i'd put it back to "stock" & pull the tuner first.
From what i gathered the Mag-Moss law protects aftermarket companies that make any kind of Filters, Exhausts, Air Boxes & whatever replaceable parts u may need to repair. But i think w/Tuners your taking a risk....Make sense??
Change the calibration and you are left with whatever warranty the aftermarket company provides (if any). Don't expect the OEM warranty to cover power train failures if the OEM calibrations wasn't in place.
Mark Kovalsky posted a link to an interesting article a while back. Here is that link. Don

I ran it just with H&S tuner and all the junk on it still, which means you're still buying DEF. About 6 weeks ago I bought the massive Flowmaster muffler and the 5" pipe went back on. Love it, love it, love it! I get at least 3 mpg more and this includes when I'm stomping on it once in a while.
Speaking of keeping it out of site .... the mini is smaller and easy to mount. It comes with a 6-7" long adjustable mounting "cable" and a 2" suction cup. Next time you get into the truck look at the dash below the stearing wheel on the right side, that's where you'll find that useless little "pocket". Mount the mini just below it on the plastic dashboard and the screen will wind up about even with your right knee.
I cut a piece of Lexan/Plexiglass to be just bigger than the suction cup, then I used Silicone adhesive out of a tube you get at Home Depot, stuck the Lexan to the dash, then about 4 hours later stuck the suction cup onto the Lexan. Perfect position, you can tell everyone its stock! Where does everyone look for tuners and guages? The A pillar and up on the dash near the left side of the windshield. Incognito is the way to go.
