This week my truck began to give me hints of upcoming trouble. As i pulled out of my driveway and drove 4 blocks to a stop, the truck died on me. I Re started the truck and away I went. Upon stopping for awhile and getting into the truck to go home, the engine began to misfire with no power ( forward motion ). The motor turned off on me and after several tries I got the engine to run smooth again and get me home. Today I started the truck and drove it with no issues. I am now going to use it again to see if the problem comes back......My question, is it a CPS issue or a under the valve cover plug issue? My fuel pressure is good at 67lbs..........How long does the CPS sensors last? Have the grey one that Ford installed back on the recall.....
How many miles are on your machine? Your signature does not show bellowed up pipes. I am sure you have exhaust leaks that contribute to a loss of boost and therefore loss of power. I have a hard time seeing it as a 50 cent mod issue unless you are having intermittent CEL lights. I am swinging towards CPS, IPR, ICP.
I also have a hard time believing that you have spent all that money in your signature and have not spent 360$ on AE.
OK, I have a problem with my truck. Great, I have AE, I will monitor IPR, CPS and ICP. Awesome, that took me a whole 5 minutes to analyze that my ???? sensor is bad or going bad.
Find someone close that will read it for you or purchase AE and be done with it. It will save you multiple times. All it takes is one save from having to take it to any shop and AE is almost paid for.
I hope you get er figured out.
My truck has 63k babied miles. I have no problem with boost or power, and for leaks.... It's tight as a vir.... So I don't think it's an exhaust issue.
Your right, an AE would do the job and shame on me not having one. I haven't gotten one due to the complex of using it, but will soon lean and order one from Clay. I have an extra CPS which I going to start there..... Will advise. I was down a quart of oil, I don't think that was the issue..
You will need a laptop to install the software on.
The CPS you have that is extra. Is it OEM or aftermarket? You need the OEM.
Disconnect the CPS and inspect the wire to ensure it is in good condition.
Do the same with the ICP and IPR wires.
Something you can do for free is to take the powerstroke cover off and make sure your tin nut on the IPR is tight.
Unplug and plug back in each of these sensors with the key out of the ignition.
The other thing that you can do that cost you nothing is to unhook the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) from the differential and make sure there is no water in it.
With this sensor the problem with no power can be VSS or Throttle Position Sensor at the gas pedal. Check the connections on these items as well. It is super free to check these connections and you get to learn some more about your truck. Keep us informed.
Also. Any oil or fuel leaks in the valley area? My fuel line split going to my drivers side head at about 185K but it is not the miles that kill the lines it is just TIME.
Great info D.... The extra CPS is oem, grey, ford B series. No oil in valley. Truck runs like a champ but started with this issue. I will go down your post and inspect each item and will diff let you know what I find..... Thank you for your assistance and diff will talk with clay about the software.
