Yet another 6.0 Excursion no start.....

05 X Limited, 95K, cranks but will not start. Ongoing intermittent problem. Has been fine for the last three months but now in the same boat again. Unplugging ICP on passenger valve cover does not make a difference. All the vitals seem good as far as IPR, ICP, ICV, CVI, Ficm power (FICM was replaced earlier in the summer), etc. Where I'm not good is Fuel Pulse Width (FPW) is 0 and the Cam/crank sync is 0. Am I correct to believe I have a wiring issue somewhere? Or could it be the PCM. Not sure where to go from here. It did the same thing three months ago but seemed to fix itself. Thanks in advance.

Yep theres the No STart

FPW at 0 means the FICM dont know where the timming at so the FICM is Not turning on it dont know when to fire the Injectors

You ALso have FICM SYNC I am shure its No as well

Do you have a DVM I can give you the procedure to check the CAm/Cranks sensors

gotta have that sync, heres some tech data. As always, any codes would help but this should get you on the right track.

You are correct, FICM sync is 0 also. I do have a DVM. Question: Wouldn't a bad cam or crank position sensor throw a code? This vehicle has never thrown a code when it goes into this no start condition. Looks like Rusty Axlerod has sent diagnostics. I will try to check them out tomorrow.

Yes they normaly throw a DTC
what scanner are you using??????

If you want to go further into it, disconnect the middle PCM connector and plug it back in again. Make sure it is secured to the PCM properly (since you mentioned you had disconnected it during the repair).
If you want to verify those circuits, you can connect a DVOM to both the CKP and CMP circuits of the middle PCM connector. Set your DVOM to Hz. On the CKP circuit, you should be seeing 150 to 200 Hz when the engine is cranked over (directly proportional to 150 to 200 RPMs). On the CMP circuit you should get a reading of 1.1 to 1.9 Hz when the engine is cranked over. Hopefully you won't have to go this far before you resolve your issue.

Do you have an rpm reading when cranking?

I would do the electrical check on the camshaft sensor (CMP) - or test the new (relatively new) FICM (it is possible it is bad)

I unplugged the middle connector of the PCM, plugged it back in and it fired right up. I still don't trust that it's fixed. I'm assuming it's pointless to run the cam/crank diagnostic tests when it's running as everything will probably turn up fine.

My camshaft sensor failed in Sept when the temperature was below 50. We had to us a hair dryer to heat up the sensor to get home to change a $25 part. I have an 04 motor with the camshaft sensor on drivers side center front of engine.

P2614: CMP (camshaft) - poor connection or electrical noise: Check CMP+/- or CMPO circuits.

You can get a P2285 when you try to start w/ a disconnected ICP sensor.
