I have a 2008 F-250 and put Dick Cepek wheels on it and I'm tired of seein tire pressure monitor system failure flash every time I start the truck. Can this be deleted or bypassed somehow?
The TPMS cannot legally be bypassed, more feds in the passenger seat bs. The new wheels themselves shouldn't show a fault...either the installer broke a sensor or they didn't reprogram them, theyre position sensitive. You should have received a small TPMS programmer with the truck (looks like a remote control for a garage door opener). The sequence for reprogramming is in your owners' manual. If all is well there, then you need to be sure the tires are inflated pretty close to the door tag recommended pressure, I think it's around 65-70 lbs.
Well I just recently bought the truck used from a dealership and didn't find any such remote. Can I buy a remote or should I take it back in? The truck is still under factory warranty.
If you bought the truck used from a dealer, I'd give them a call as you should have received it. If you bought privately, I'm guessing youre on your own since it really isn't a warranty issue. The dealers always have a couple on hand for tire rotations and stuff. If theres a DISCOUNT TIRE store near you, I know they have a universal programmer at each store and are usually easy to deal with, they'll probably do it for you. It only takes a few minutes.
Yeah ive got a bad one to flashes all the darn time tried the discount tire place they cant find which one is bad and since tires have been rotated were at a lose the dealer wants around 250.00 to find and replace one sensor so for now I just keep watching the light
