I know this subject has been kicked around a bunch so I'll just stick to what I'm not sure of.
Have '06 6L power stroke w/155k miles and I want to flush coolant and add a coolant filter.
I think I read here that the replacement coolant should be propylene glycol, not ethylene glycol. If I did I can't figure out where. Looked at zerex at NAPA that said it was comparable with my truck. It listed ethylene glycol as the active ingredient. Wound up at the dealer who said I needed VC7B, again ethylene glycol.
Is VC7B what I need?
One more, the filter ties in at the heater hose, I assume this means it is not filtering unless the heater is on. If that's the case I'll only get about 5 months use per year, right?
Zerex GO-5 is the equivelant of the Ford Premium Gold. The filter ties in, in front of the heater control valve and returns to the degas bottle. It is filtering any time the engine is running.
