Up here in Ontario everyone drives like an idiot so I just stick to the slow lane and do my thing. Considering everyone fly's by me I doubt I'm doing any were near 130. I just checked and realized I typed that last bit about my tires wrong. They are 235/75/15 which is about 31" tall. That is what these trucks came with stock are they not? I'm prepping my truck for paint right now so my stickers from all the door jams are off which are at home so I can't check yet to confirm. I guess I'm fine with the higher rpm's on the highway I just don't like the gear sets. I wish I could change them out.

Sorry my bad on that, I meant 5th gear and figured it was implied, I should of been more specific. Never seen anyone cruise at highway speeds in 4th unless loaded or really steep hill.

NP on the wrong size stewart, that makes much more sense now. The 235's as far as I know should be the stock size, atleast it was on ever 150 of that era I've seen. I hear ya on wishing to be able to change the ratios in the M5OD, been behind the wheel of a few trucks with that trans and I really hated the gear ratios in em.

So I took what you guys said into consideration and have made my mind up on skipping the 3.08 and rebuilding my 3.55. Which lsd would be a good buy for a daily truck that see's tarmac most of the time, but will see northern Ontario 4 plus feet of snow? I was thinking of going with a gear based lsd because of how long they last compared to clutch type. Would a Detroit unit be a good idea? I was even thinking ford racing but I think they are clutch?

Hi.. I'm borrowing this thread a little.. sorry stewart.

Does anyone know if there is a limited slip device in my truck? and if it is.. what kind? there is a lamp always glowing that says "rear anti lock".. I have not found any buttons to push or levers to pull to get that lamp to stop glowing..

I have a 1991 F350 7,3 4x4, crew cab, not dually..

The light is indicating an issue with the abs system. Look on your door tag for your axle code. If it starts with a letter(ex:h9) it's a limited slip.

The Detroit TrueTrac is a gear based LSD or Posi and comes highly recommended, the Ford Trac-Loc is the factory LSD in these trucks and can perform very well with a few simple mods to change the clutch stack and shim it tighter, but it's still clutch based and will wear out over time. Richmond Gear also has a locker called the Powertrax Lockright that will install inside an open differential housing, but it has to be setup perfectly or it won't work at all. A friend of mine had one in his Ranger and it worked great.
