The rear axle I used for my swap is supposed to be a ls but I think the clutches are shot. I acts like an open diff. The clutches in the old one were in great shape. My question is, will the clutches out of the 3:55 rtear work in the 4:10? Both are 10.25 Ford axles and both are out of an 86.
Shame youre in kentucky or id just buy the 3.55 LS off ya lol. Other than that... no idea on cluctches, but theoretically the whole imited slip assembly should come out and bolt in your other axle.
I am looking for a limited slip unit. When searching all that ever appears to matter is the rear end you have not the gears. By the way the one you have that the clutches are bad would you like to sell it. I am looking for one it would be cheaper to buy yours and replace the clutches in it. I just want the locker not the whole rear end.
I'm getting awfull curious to see what my limited slip 4.10's look like, 377k miles, the limited slip actually still worked as it should even to the very last day!
With money tight right now I think I will just use the set out of the old rear. They still worked as they should. Knowing the po of the parts truck, I figure he didn't use a friction modifier oil in it.
