thanks -i thouht that the high-boy frames were not the same as the 78-79s thats just what someone told me-anyways im going to start tearing into this truck thanks
Yes and No. The Front Bolts will line right up. But you will have to drill new holes in the cab for the rear mounts. If you measure the rear cab mounts on the Highboy Frame from center to center. And then look on the bottom of the new cab. You will see a dimple about 7 inches from the center of the bolt holes to the side of the cab. Measure these dimples center to center. And they should be the same measurements you got from measuring the Highboy Frame Mounts. I drilled a 1/4" hole from the bottom and up into the cab. This gave me the location inside the cab. Then I drilled a 2" hole with a new hole saw blade at each location inside the cab thru the first piece of steel. After that, I drilled the correct bolt size hole straight down using the pilot hole that was left inside the 2"hole for Bolt access. All that's left is to go to the parts house and get a rubber gromet to cover up that hole after you get it bolted up. Other than that. You can bolt up the front mounts, but not tight. Put the front end back on and bolt up. Slap on the bed and bolt up. Then line up the cab with the bed. Use a piece of mason line or another type of colored string. Using the the body lines. Tape a string down each side from the front fender to the rear of the bed. Then slid the cab from side to side until you get the same measurement from each side. Next, drill a hole on each side up thru the mounts an into the cab. I would suggect using a small bit at first to get the pilot hole inside. You will need to drill the 2' hole inside before you drill the actual bolt hole.
Good Luck
