Ya got me... I wasn't considering the glowplugs KOEO.
Everything sounds normal to me. Volts key-off would tell condition of batteries as well. But it seems to me the batteries and alternator (for a 6G) are reasonably healthy to me.
Josh
Ya I saw the 12.2volts you posted I knew what you was thinking but didnt think the OP knew though
Had the same fluctuation. I also had to put the batteries on a charger on the weekends to keep them healthy. Got a DC Power 185 amp alt and all troubles are gone!
Thanks for the responses guys. When the starter kicks on, I get a momentary drop to below 11v. I will check again tonight as well as with a volt meter.
I had similar issues -- batteries started getting a little weak then died altogether. Never had the battery light on the dash come on, and my new batteries ran down soon after they were installed. Replaced the alternator and all was well for two years. It's a long story after that for me, but I'd wager your alternator is kaput.
I haven't driven my truck since Sunday, so when I checked the batteries with my meter tonight, they were at 11.0v. Torque app said the same. I had it at KOEO for over a minute then tried to start. It cranked for several seconds and turned over a few times, but wouldn't start. I shut it off and went back to KOEO. It then started roughly, I ran around the truck to check for smoke. It was black and smelled like fuel. It only smoked for a second or two. Then proceeded to warm up like normal.
Voltage first rose to 12 before settling in at 13 before I drove off.
Tomorrow I plan on getting the oil changed to T6 and Hot Shots Secret (there isn't RevX around here) plus OEM filters and caps.
They were at 11.0volt before the turn of ANY Key????
If so you have Parasitic Battery Drain
That is correct. Before any turn of the key. I did leave the OBD II Bluetooth adapter plugged in the whole time. It also has a Viper alarm and remote start installed. I have never used it in the month I have owned the truck as I was told the start button no longer worked. I was told the stereo wasn't hacked in, but folding the rear seat down, the power wire for the amp is still there and you can see where it was mounted. The wire is still attached to the battery! I have the other end isolated and will remove that tomorrow too.
Suggestions?
