For a while now I have had a rear end vibration on my 04 CC SB. It happens around 40-50 accelerating, coasting, or braking. I have replaced the rear brakes, all three u-joints, and carrier bearing. I have also had the driveshaft balanced twice. Today I removed the rear section of the driveshaft put the truck in gear and pressed on the gas. Right away I started to feel the vibration. I then removed the front piece and did the same procedure with no vibration felt. Driving around in front wheel drive still no vibration.
Could the driveshaft just be worn out? I made sure the mounting bracket holding the carrier bearing was tight. If I end up needing a new driveshaft I think I'm going to go with a one piece. If anyone has any thoughts please help me out.
Well, if taking the portion of the drive shaft that runs from the transfer case output to the carrier bearing solves the vibration issue, then it stands to reason that the front portion of the drive shaft or the carrier bearing is causing the issue.
Have all of the U-joints and double cardan joints been replaced?
All the U-joints have been replaced. Mine does not have a double cardan. I do believe it is the front part of the driveshaft. I think I will try to find a used one to try it first before buying a new one.
