Cool Still have vibration

Hi everyone I just got done taking my drive shaft to the drive shaft man. 260 dollars later I still have a vibration. I've replaced all of the u joints the carrier bearing, shimed the carier bearing and still have a vibration. It starts about 10 mph and clears up around 15-17 mph. I think I may have some rear end issues but would that cause a vibration?? any help would be much appreciated I'm starting to get frustrated. Thanks

Hope you made sure that the alignment for your carrier bearing was not only straight Vertically (up/down), but horizontal (side to side) also. Take a string and make sure the drive shaft is centered from the transfer case to the rear end. There is a write up for this somewhere.

could someone with a crew cab six speed short bed post a picture of your driveshaft angle. I'm still not sure what it should be. My truck was in a wreck before I bought it and I know that it was in the rear of the truck. I'm not so sure that they reinstalled everything properly. My angle still looks off to me even after 1" of shims but I don't know for sure what it should look like. I will check the alignment with a string tomorrow. Thanks

Try to describe your vibration as best as possible.... did your driveshaft work make things better, worse, change what range it does it, change anything at all? Like i said explain as best as possible, does it feel like the rear of your truck is shimmying back and forth? Does it feel like the truck "shudders" from a start, or in the 10-17 mph range? Is it only on acceleration? Or deceleration, or even when just rolling at that speed? Every little detail you can tell us helps.

The drive shaft work did improve the vibration. The guy had to re-tube the front shaft and put a new yoke on the back shaft. It definately made it better but it is still there. It's tollerable now but still not the way it should be.It seems to be only during acceleration in the 10-17 mph range. Its a vibration that goes through the whole truck. It feels more like a shudder than a shimmy.....I'm going to check the shaft with a string this morning I'll let you know what I find.

What I did was to shim 1/4 inch and take a ride. Come back and add another 1/4 inch. Did this until the shuddering went away and then added more until it came back. (make sure you get long enough, and strong enough bolts). From these measurements I found the optimal size. I then took the measurements and had a shop make a solid metal bar that had two perfect holes thru it. (no way I could have drilled them since no drill press). I placed almost 2 1/2 inches of steel to get the carrier right.
