While I was busy welding in the front end, Ford was busy shipping my engine. The alternator kit for these is sold separately, which I understand if you want to use it as a race engine, but it also doesn't come with a starter???? So I ordered all the parts I needed, including a clutch kit, bell housing, shift fork, wiring kit etc. When I ripped into it all (like Christmas....), I found that it also doesn't include a release bearing???? At any rate, the Ford dealership was quite accommodating, and threw in the starter and release bearing for free........
I still don't know if these pics will show up like they're supposed to, I've read the instructions numerous times, and just can't seem to find that "mountain icon" everyone talks about.....I'm no Bill gates.
Wow!! It may take Bill Gates to wire her in and make it run. I still haven't got the Duraspark system figured out enough to trouble shoot it. Ya I am Like really old School. If it has points and a carb I can make it move. Just sayin. I would end up making a very expensive coffee table out of that engine I am afraid.
The coyote 5.0 is one bad engine! I witnessed first hand a coyote run sub 9 second quarter mile times at the US Nationals in Indy this Fall. The Chevy and Molar fans were in awe!
Congrats on your new engine. Keep us posted on your progress.
It might be different in Florida, because apparently these things are made in Canada. I researched it a fair bit, and found that while the places that sell it in the States were a
bit cheaper on average, the lack of shipping costs and importing it more than made up the difference.
I got mine from a Ford dealership that does the racing parts. The engine was 7K, the wiring harness/gas pedal/air box kit 1700, alternator kit 300, tranny was 2300, and the misc parts about 1000. All told with tax in was 13,900, and the dealership threw in the starter and release bearing. I drove the 4 hours to Vancouver to pick it up, so no shipping costs. Not really too bad, I thought.
Hi Rusted56,
I am doing the same build into a 56 BBW. I sent you a PM so we can share our struggles etc. I went with a 4k take out from a 2012 mustang.
