Side Cladding Removal:6.8 vs 5.4 acceleration issues

Well some random stuff here:
The issue of the side cladding, I know that everyone takes it off. I keep seeing them around that it looks so nice. What is the deal there?

Also, drove an X with a 5.4L and seemed to have much more pick up and acceleration power. Any thoughts on this? Mine is quite a slow pig out of the hole but this 5.4 takes off

I know rear end diff etc.

The 5.4L gets a bad rap mostly from folks who have never driven one. The 5.4L generates damn near as much torque at 2K (350lb ft) as the V10. Couple that with some 4.10s (yes, 5.4L can have 4.10s) and it makes the case for owning one for people hauling duties.

Would I want buy one for the exclusively tow a heavy TT. No...

Would I buy one if I didn't tow heavy regularly. Yes... Plus, they sound much better piped than a V10.

Everyone?

I've only read where a couple people have done that.

Along with what Monsta told you, you also have to understand the V10 is a very different beast with the way the power comes on.

It's not like a 5.4L V8, just with two extra cylinders. If you get caught thinking like that, you will be disappointed.

The V10 has oodles of power and is an excellent powerhouse engine, but the nature of that beast is where the power comes on (where in the RPM band) and the shape of the power curve.

Not that I can tell you how it's different, I just know it is because it's that power curve that stopped me dead in my tracks when I was looking to buy an F250 with the V10. Plus, the guys in the V10 forum educated me on the intricacies of the V10.
