ok I guess I will try adding some rev X and changing my oil which now has 4k on it. What actually is stiction? is revX a legitimate fix or just a bandaid?

I am also going to try a bubble test tomorrow

I had the same issue. Stiction is a word they made. up because it sounds much more sophisticated than dirty injectors. I all but eliminated my problem by using a fuel injector cleaner and a additive you put in the crank case called Hot Shot Secret. Then changed to rotila T6 synthetic and rev x . I don't think Rev X alone is your answer because it dose not have the cleaning abilities of the before mentioned products. Some will scream Baa Humbug and call these products snake oil but they worked for me. By all means do the bubble test first and if you don't see any bubbles you should evacuate the fuel out of the secondary fuel filter bowl with a turkey baster and add injector cleaner to the bowl. Try for at least a 50/50 mix or even stronger. This will give your injectors a strong shot of cleaner. I have done this to my engine with no harmful effects. I'm willing to bet if stiction is your problem you will see results very quickly and then you can start a cleaning campaign. Remembering they get dirty from the fuel and the oil?

Well I pretty much always run diesel kleen in my fuel. Also last night I check on of my extra oil containers and realized that i do infact use Rotella T6 oil. I guess i might try the top shot seceret it looks like TSC sells it. I will also try your method of putting it in the fuel bowl.

I will say i didnt really start to notice any major issuses of my truck untill i ran it very low on fuel. I drained my water seperator and noticed a very small ammount of water and some debris, so i did change my fuel filters.

thanks for you help!

I think you mean Hot Shots Secret and if it were me I'd try the Rev X first.

Keep in mind that it IS a bandaid but it does work. Not only does it mask the stiction issue, but it also helps the engine overall performance. It is expensive though and because of that I only used it in the winter to help with cold operations.

Your sig mentions Atlas 40, was that done in the truck or was your FICM repaired? My FICM failed, but during a lot of the tests showed 48V even when it wasn't starting!

Over the summer my FICM (and HPOP) went on me and both were replaced. The FICM was from Ed with the Eco-tune. So far we have had some cold mornings here in the northeast, but I am VERY pleased that it doesn't look like I will NEED Rev-X for my truck since it's starting and running just fine with dino oil in it. Next week I go back to T6 and I hope that it is even better.

Moral to the story, maybe you have another underlying issue which would better help the situation, but Rev-X does work.

Well I had my FICM repaired by ED, just a few months ago at the same time I put in new batteries. I did notice this morning that my ficm read 46.5 volts for a split second when it was first started. it was 35 degrees out.

What would be a real fix for this problem?

Having the engine diagnosed when it is cold to see which injector(s) are not firing properly would be the real fix. Rev-X does work and will give you instant relief. It doesn't FIX the problem in the true sense of the word, but it certainly allows your truck to be functional when it's cold.

I like Ed, he did right by me, maybe drop him a note to see what he thinks? He does fantastic work, but electronics do fail regardless of who installs the components onto the board. I'm not saying that your FICM is suspect, but I do know that mine is starting FAR better than it did in previous years (even though in previous years it tested fine with a multi-meter).

Here is an update on my truck. Last night I added the Hot Shot Secret and took it for a drive. The truck was still hot when i added it so I didnt have any missing or shaking when I started it (fumuto oil drain valve makes removing oil from a hot engine super easy!) Once I put it in I took the truck for a 20 mile drive at 55mph just to get everything nice and hot. This morning the truck definatly had less missing/surging/rough running but it was not as cold last night.

I have noticed the truck seems to have more power when it is warm and runs a little smoother, but i guess that could just be all in my head!!

Oh good! If you saw a difference that quick you'll probably see a huge difference in a couple weeks. One thingI. Didn't like about HSS is how thin it is. and it makes the engine rattle are than usual. I couldn't go the whole 5000 miles and drained it out after 3000 miles. Then put in new t6 and rev -x. You might think about adding. Injector cleaner to your bowl. Good luck.

For the record, Rev-X and Archoil have better reputations than HSS for resolving Stiction issues - at least on most 6.0L forums.

Thanks, I have not really noticed any rattling, but the truck has been getting consistently better each morning. This morning I really didn't notice anything, but it was only in the 60s. I think it is supposed to get colder tonight, so well see how it does. I added the HHS to the oil with out changing it so it will be out of the motor in 1500 miles from the time I put it in.

What injector cleaner would you recommend for the fuel bowl. Diesel Kleen?
