I just recently bought my first diesel truck. It's a 2008 F-250. It gets crappy fuel mileage just like I already knew. The motor is completely stock but I wanna install an exhaust to get rid of the PDF and programmer but I was wondering what's good to buy/do to prevent blowin injectors or head gaskets like my buddies 2004 6.0L? Thank you so much for all your input and suggestions.
No EGR delete on the 6.4. DPF delete is illegal, especially if you do emissions test and you will fail, and youlle need a tune on the programmer for it.
Injectors/ head gaskets aren't an issue like they are with the 6.0L. DPF is the biggest obstacle, same tuner that you use to delete the regen will shut the EGR down.
if you dont live anywhere where there is emissions testing, then do the dpf delete, and also do an egr delete. you will get best results with a egr delete w/ wastegate. it is not that important unless you are making arond 500-600hp. you can just get away with the kit without a wastegate. the flo pro kit comes with an intake elbow that elminates the egr valve and with this kit, people have seen a great increase in power. it will be good for your truck and so will the dpf delete. i wouldnt worry about it being illegal unless u get tested. so many people here in wisconsin have deleted trucks and they dont have any problems with the law.
Sorry for not posting in the right forum. I thought I was in the right one. I just joined this site. My truck is registered in Florida which is where my house it but I'm a pipeliner and work in Pennsylvania so bill be good with the emissions. They don't do it in Florida any longer. Thank you all so much for your help. I'm definitely going to put and exhaust and EGR delete on it and still not real sure on what programmer to buy. Any suggestions?
And while I have this thread in the wrong forum I have one more question. I put Dick Cepek rims on my truck and it pisses me off seeing a message every time I crank the truck sayin tire pressure monitor issue or whatever. Will the H&S tuner be able to bypass that?
I've had good luck with my H&S Mini Maxx. That would be my recommendation. My truck doesn't have the TPMS sensors so can't help you in that regard.
Good luck, you'll love having DPF deleted.
O have heard good thugs from h&s, Spartan, and sct. The sct is really nice cause u can customize tunes down to the smallest detail. That would be my pick but they are all good. Can u put ur sensors in a PVC pipe and just pressurize it or will the computer still notice
