EGR Delete or Upgrade?
I keep finding contradicting information across the rest of the internet, so I figured I would ask here

My specific question is not the legality of either (no emissions testing in Alabama). I want to know which is better (read: safer and more reliable) for my motor.
At the moment, my only modification to the truck is a 4inch turboback exhaust, but I have been considering an SCT tuner for a while for some modest power gains. So, I'm not worried about throwing an EGR code or passing emissions. My questions focuses specifically on the physical effects to the engine and the driving experience (does a delete increase/decrease MPGs, allow more/less power, cause/prevent failures elsewhere, etc).
I love my truck, just want to keep it running for years to come
