2011 6.7L BAD VALVES/PISTON
I have a 2011 F250 6.7l with 25,000 miles. This truck has not been worked very hard. Have used it to pull horse/cattle trailer about a dozen times. It is otherwise our family vehicle. My husband has a construction company and the plan is to put this truck into the company once his 7.3l to ready to retire.
Was driving 2 weeks ago and truck started to shake and knock. Had it towed to dealer. They told me there was no compression in the #6 cylinder and after further investigation that a valve stuck and was therefor hitting the piston - breaking the piston. Ford is replacing the valves involved, piston, head and some lines. Are there any other concerns I should have regarding this repair? Could there be more damage I should be concerned about? I am not an engine buff. Husband is super busy, so I have been left handling the repair. Would appreciate any comments/suggestions.

YES
If the piston is damage and value is damage, I would think the cylinder wall would be damaged. I would want to see the cylinder and take pictures and get a real compression test. Did they account for all the metal pieces??
I would ask for a new short block and a new head and additional warranty for the repair of 5 years 100k miles.
It very possible to destroy the engine with this type of failure. A new 6.7 engine could run you 22k at the dealer.
On Edit
No way can they say they found all the metal. That Metal will get in barrings and will shorten the life of your engine. Demand a new short block. If you have trouble getting that, contact ford direct.

You'll probably get a better response posting this question down in the 6.7 forum: 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
I'd expect a new engine as well, metal pieces could have went anywhere and everywhere. Unfortunately it sounds eerily similar to what happened to another poster just recently, here's the link to his thread - btw he ended up w/ a new engine. Not a cheap repair...be thankful warranty should cover it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...please-28.html

Speculation is this is an early build 2011. The valve are a bit weak. I think they have since figured out what went wrong in the manufactoring process of the valves.
I'd insist on a new motor as there is no telling where all the shrapnel went and how long you have it running while it came apart.
