Just purchased a 2001 F250 4x4 with 7.3 and one of the manual locking hubs is bad. What is a good replacement and how will it look with the stock center caps?
Aftermarket you can either go with Warn, or Mile Marker. I have a set of new Mile Markers that I bought for my Excursion that I sold without ever installing them. I have seen several people upgrade to the newer front centercaps with Warn, or MM hubs as they don't stick out as far.
I have my hubs on Craigslist now, need to get them out to someone that can use them.

Is the hub stuck/hard to turn? or are the splines stripped? Stripped splines = new hub, stuck can usually be freed up. I still have stockers on my 00 and use 4WD nearly every day.
The stock hubs can be freed up when stuck by using a teflon based lubricant spray and cleaning them up.

I have manual hubs, and one is easy to turn, the other is stiff. I made a tool out of stainless steel to turn them. It makes it easy to lock/unlock with gloves on too.
I've been using a Dupont Teflon Spray on mine 2x year for 4-5 years and they are easy to turn - just spray around the edge of the **** @ each tire rotation and work them back and forth a few times. If mine ever strip I'll probably switch to Warns but I'm in no hurry.
Buy Milemarkers and get '05-style center caps (you can get repro ones on Amazon, I think). The hubs work well and look great with the shallow center caps. They look dorky and would be hard to use with the stock center caps, IMO.
