Pulled out some Lucas CAV bb codes made in England. Those sure are the originals.
This year the oem was Lucas CAV, with stanadyne being a stand in for injectors.
On a side note delphi bought lucas cav. Too bad the injectors still aren't made in England.
Some (4) of the injectors were wet. My guess is there pop pressure was real real low on those or they leaked. Also the bottom of the injector body was a different color on those.
One had some junk on it. Gonna keep an eye on it. Probably a wet injector picking up rusty crap that fell in the bore.
Got the return lines in and I'll be putting the pump back in tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Yup new ip. Should run like a top now. Can't wait.
@nmb2
I'm guessing that doesn't make for a good running injector correct? Glad i put those new injectors in then. 4 were like that.
Got everything buttoned up today. Ran out of light. Put timing to where i had it with the old injectors and its is way to advanced. Gonna turn it back, warm it up, and throw the timing light on it with the ferret adapter and get it dialed in.
i too have watched that video on the ferret adapter and all that and the timing light but what exactly are the numbers your looking for? if i ever decide to do this? or is it different from year to year
with an engine that's brought up to operating temp already.this is set at 2,000 rpm.
never make adjustments when the engine is running.
make sure the internal fuel screw is where you want it,as turning the fuel up or down latter will alter timing, and require timing the engine again.
Onus isn't going to recognize old betsy today lol.
I sure didn't reconize my van on the first test drive with the new IP. WOW, the difference is unexplainable, you really have to test it to feel it in your pants!
Got it timed. Right on 9 degrees. Works great. I can start it and shut it down, and it pops right off.
Sadly it was low of fuel, was going to get more. I was 'testing' it and sloshed all the fuel in the tank gauge went to e. Truck died. Got more fuel, and killed the batteries trying to get it to start.
I hate air! I also hate the damn plastic shower head!
Almost cranked over started a few times. Going to jump it again tonight. Cold timing advance seems to help a ton when air is in the system from experience. I know it returns more fuel to the tank which sure helps.
Luckily its only parked right in front of my house. Turned it around and rolled it back down the street and parked it there.
