That sounds like you have a bad seal on the line to the can/tank... unless your pumps are not self-priming. What are the pumps? I can look into this.

He tried the first replacement pump by installing it to the original lines on the truck , put 12V to it no go , reversed it ,still no go . Second Auto zone pump , hooked to an independent fuel source to rule out tanks , still no go after filling it with fuel first ..

  1. Do you have make/model on the replacement pumps?
  2. If I understand this, you're using the original quick-disconnects? Can you run a straight hose without the QD?
  3. The polarity of the original pump was pretty much set by the connector sizes, were the connectors replaced? I'm wondering if it's running backwards.
* Edit* I just saw that you reversed the electrical for a test. I couldn't do that with my stock pump without cutting the connectors.

Sounds like the pickup is plugged or the tank switching valve is stuck...

Hit it with a hammer.

Seriously. My last AZ (Airtex) pump didn't work on install and after doing ALOT of other stuff I gave it a few whacks. Its been working ever since...

If he still has the original strainer in the tank then maybe he can get some compressed air from a can or someone and blow into the suction line for the tank and blow the screens out I don't know if he has done the hutch mod so just bumping and maybe he can get some compressed air.

I cycled the pump about 3 times (key on, key off, repeat) without starting after draining the fuel lines to get the fuel up there again. There's also the possibility something else is at play. Did you open the fuel bowl drain valve to see what's going on? Foam, or fuel? Quality of fuel?
