Pacesetter Header Fitment

Finally got around to try installing my Pace setter headers on my 93 F250 4x4 with the 351W and have ran into fitment issues on the driver side. The yoke on the differential and one tube will not play nicely. Interference is quite big as you can see by the pics (hopefully they are below). Have contacted Pacesetter and we're both kind of scratching our heads for now.

Wanted to see if any of you have had issues with the Pace setter headers. P/N is 72C2221 or 70-2221? These are the ones that are supposed to fit great, but as usual, my truck is proving me wrong.

Holy crap, you're not kidding! I'm curious to see how this pans out, I've been thinking of headers. How bad was it to get the manifolds out? Any broken studs?

How much travel until you hit the bumpstops.
Looks like your springs are really sagged.

No broken studs but I soaked everything the day before with PB Blaster. Had a couple on the driver side that were tougher to get going but everything turned out ok. It was a fair amount of work to get everything off, I will say that.

The springs are only a couple of years old. They're the 2755lb capacity rated springs.

Maybe the headers are for F350. Pumpkin is a little further away on those.
I know some headers are for one and not the other, but don't know which way is compatible.

Looking at summit racing's website that part number you have is not listed for the 93 F-250. Th epart number they list for your truck is 70-2223 and 72c2223

So I would say it looks like you may have the wrong set of headers. I don't know for sure just going by what Summit Racing lists on their website

The difference between the 70-2223/72c2223 are those part numbers don't have the EGR hookup on the passenger side. The 72c2221 has the egr hookup.

The Pacesetter website says the headers fit both the F150/F250 2wd and 4wd with the 351W.

Untamnd, I didn't know about the pumpkin difference. Is there anywhere that info can be dug up?

Thanks

I'm just mostly going by what L&L have on their website.
Their 350 headers don't fit the 250 due to clearance issues with pumpkin, unless its lifted it says in a note.
I've also dealt with it on other vehicles. 150vs250 and stuff as well.

Looks like its time for a suspension lift if you wanna keep those headers. Weird they don't fit though.

The 2wd has exhaust go under the trans crossmember probably. That would be a reason it's so low.

Not really sure buddy.

How are your engine mounts? I had to replace mine before I could get my hooker LTs to fit my 89 351

Man those things are WAY low... have all the header manufacturers completely screwed up their longtubes for these trucks. Pacesetters were supposed to be the best fitting but now it looks like they are no better than junky Flowtechs.

Haven't checked the motor mounts but they'd have to be pretty messed up, I'd think, for them to make that much difference.

Blue Rebel, how much of a clearance issue were you having?

Spent some time looking at pics of other header brands comparing them to mine. The Hookers look "remarkably similar" to Pacesetter brand as far as driver side tube bends. Almost makes one wonder....

Hedman and Flowtech have the back cylinder tube routed completely different than Hooker/Pacesetter.

Another option is a set of Tri-Y's from Stans Headers, but my Gawd they're expensive. Only about 10 miles from my house.

Ya know its been so long since I installed them i had to go back in my photo albums and refresh my memory. Turns out I installed the new LTs at the same time I replaced the engine in the truck, and thats also when it got new motor mounts. The fitment problem I was talking about was from a year earlier, when I tried to put 302 shorty headers on the 351. I did find this pic from that time, which would have been taken right at the end of the swap, new motor mounts and new headers. As you can see the pipe did get kinda close to the yoke... I dont think much if any contact was made though, and i did mud with it back then
