223.. im gonna stick with it for a little while.. i need to sell my broncos.. omg i forgot i have 2 300s laying by my ratrod ... idiot lol..
one efi.. one carb..
223 is gonna stay with a little extra power and a new intake/ exhaust manifold
The 223 has fewer main bearings and intake runners. So it's not as strong as the 300 and harder to make power. But dressed out they do look cool!
i just want a cam.. not looking to spend money on a 240 or 300.. even a 302..
then i have to change motor mounts.. change trans to a 5 speed..
doesnt make sense for the amount of money i wanna put in it..
you tell me
$200 exhaust manifold header
$150-200 for a good cam
$300 machine head and polish it
say about another $100-300 in goodies.. main bearings and so on
thats basically a rebuilt motor.. not full rebuilt.. but good enough to run for a couple thousand miles

You do know if you swap in a Crown vic front suspension you'll have to fabricate new mounts and possibly modify the 223's oil pan. If you are worried about motor mounts I think you'd be better off sticking with your stock front suspension. Just make sure the king pins and spring bushings are good. It works why mess with it.
I think your cost estimate for the cam may be a little low. Remember a cam swap isn't just a cam swap. You have to swap cam, lifters and valve springs.
Windshield in 3 weeks ago.. 223 is gonna get a new intake and exhaust headers.. not gonna go anymore than $400 or $500 on the motor.. leave it the way it is since the gasket look pretty new..
reviving this thread from the dead
Reviving this thread from the dead... Those are the pictures before sandy.. Since then the truck was flooded out and the motor is fully rebuilt from top to bottom with brand new .20 over mains and .30 pistons... Port and polished head.. New stainless valves.. Just waiting on a new carb since the old one gummed up with garbage from the storm.. Generator is shot.. So I gotta get that rebuilt.. And basically I'm done.. Trans has to be totally rebuilt.. Needle bearings and input/ output bearings seized up.. Lucky ally there was no interior in the truck so nothing to worry about here.. Got 15" smoothie wheels with moon caps to replace steelies.. I got new lowback sport seats.. Dynamat floor and black carpet... New wiring harness since the old was cut up in 7 spots.. Put new stainless strips and precut wood in the bed.. But overall I'm almost done and ready to get insurance and plates
