Who supplied the pump and have you considered the possibility of a bad new pump. I've seen it happen more than once.

Also, your statement about suction at the test plug instead of pressure and the statement you make about opposite rotations on the pump leads me to believe it's a bad pump

I got the pump from pensacola diesel. (again their service has been excellent thus far)

I've done some more research and found that the crank (viewed from the back) spins counter clockwise, it runs the camshaft sprocket, spinning it clockwise, then the hpop off that...spinning it counterclockwise so I agree that something must be wrong in the pump. Although they have told me its impossible for it to be assembled wrong, I am suspicious

I guess Ill find ou tin the morning when I find out how fast their return exchange will work. I'm located in Canada so fast shipping is very expensive. $125 for overnight plus $75 in duties from UPS. Not looking forward to paying that again for a second pump. I hope they'll take the time to turn it on the bench and make sure it turns counter-clockwise to push oil!
I spoke to their guy who does the rebuilding and he informed me that these old style pumps are supposed to turn clockwise and the newer 04.5+ are supposed to turn counterclockwise. Doesnt make sense to me as the engine configuration is the same. ie. the crankshafts still turn counterclockwise as viewed from the flywheel meanign the pumps would also turn counterclockwise as the cam gear (which drives the hpop) is spinnning clockwise between them. Had to draw it out to be sure....lol

Well I called Pensacola Diesel in the morning and they have shipped our another pump. I hope it doesnt have the same problem!
They, so far, have been good with dealing with this and shipped another pump out without first receiving the other one back first.

On a side note I called Mastercard just in case I had a problem with returning this pump. They informed me that since I paid for it with my m/c that the warranty on any item purchased is doubled up to a year. Since the pump came with a 1 year warranty it now becomes a 2 year warranty! How cool is that? For all us DIY guys that will surely save us some $ down the road! They also said all items are covered for 90 days for fire/theft...I told them that the last $3000 or so has ben all fuel purchases and its since been all burned up...they wouldnt cover it! hahaha

I hate to do business with companies that supply parts that have a high failure rates (relative to the other choices out there). If you have already done business with them, then the warranty is a good thing. However, if we keep doing business with companies that supply cheaply made parts, eventually thats all we will be able to get - cheaply made parts. Seems like the success model is to have parts made as cheaply as possibble in China and then deal with the complaints that come. Personally, I would prefer the reliability (ie not break down on a trip) and do not want to be installing a replacement for a warrantied part within a year of installing the orginal one. JMHO.

As far as the truck problems go ...... I do hope this takes care of you.
