I'm looking into getting a tool box for my '03 Ranger XLT, but I do not want to drill any holes, nor use tape. Does anyone know who makes a tool box that is designed to clamp onto the rails? Or can you buy clamps to use on any brand of tool box? Thanks
Go to Lowes and pick up the Grip Rite system. Uses blocks to mount the box to which, in turn, grip the bed lip. No bolts thru the bed or truck and 20 minute install. Best $18 I've spent in a while..
Go to Advance Auto and get a Better Built Tool Box they use the
Grip Rite system and it works great..I used it...If you got any questions on how to install it just ask I will tell You how I did mine
The closest lowes store is 92 miles away, and the closest advance store is at least 300 miles away. Would or do you know if home depot would carry the Grip Rite system? and could I use that on any brand of tool box??
jim242002, I was looking in Wal-Mart the other day at the better builts that they carry, would they come with the grip rite system, or is it a higher priced model than what wal-mart carries?
I missed spoke, advance auto, is also a sister to kragen's. Where i'm at there is two of them. They have a delta tool box for $199, what is better though Delta, or Better Built?
I have a delta that I took off of my 93 and put on my new truck. It is fine. My lid is a little bent (sag in the center) from my kids standing on it but that only means it holds a little water on the lid when it rains. I think both are going to be comparable brands.
Now my complaint re: the shape of the ford. I have a single lid box that opens toward the cab. With the way the rear window of the 03 F150 overhangs the bed, you cannot push the box flush with the end of the bed. If you do, the box lid will hit the rear window and not open all the way. I ended up with a 1/2 gap between my tool box and the front of my bed. I fixed this by attaching some 1 1/2 inch aluminum angle to the box to cover this gap. I plan on adding a tonneau cover that covers the remainder of the bed and wanted this area to be relatively weather tight.

yea Better Built Tool Boxes at Wal-Mart are the same you would get at Advance auto and they use the grip rite system also...I bought one and it cost 220 bucks thats the single lid that opens up ,the cross over might be alittle higher or alittle cheaper

I personaly only used Better Built or UWS but I am sure Delta is a fine brand I see it used alot..But usely Delta is alittle higher than Better Built.

Right now in my area, there is a sell on Delta for 199.00 at kragen. the guy I talked to wasnt sure if it came with the grip rite or not. He found it in the delta catalog they send the stores, but no part number to cross reference. He said that he would prefer a delta since been in the business longer, but I dont really care, I just want to get one with a clamp. or at least a good box, and then buy the clamp thingy to use. I'm sure they somehow attach to the box, and maybe universal?
Don't worry you can buy the Grip Rite system at Auto Zone or Advance Auto they run about 20 bucks.but most the time you have to knock small slits in the inside of the box where it rest on the side of the bed to get the system to work...Just to hold it nice and tight..
