I have a question, i have no idea what it is or what its for, but under the cup holder and the cig lighter there seems to be a holder type of connection or something that is on the dash, looks like something can be attached or something is missing.

That is what I believe FORD calls the "trash bag hook" or can be used for your lady's purse and door pockets for trash. I could be off but that is what I have heard.

Like the others have said, it is supposed to be a trash bag hook, but it is pretty useless for that as in my experience they just fall off all the time.
Originally there was a fold down ashtray in that location. However Ford realized after a while that the ashtray was so low and far away from the driver that when the driver leaned over to use it they coudn't see out the windshield very well anymore. It was deemed a safety hazard and they decided to get rid of the ashtray. Evidently this trash bag hook was th ebest idea anyone was able to come up with. I'm assuming the tooling cost was to great for them just to remove it because the trash bag hook stuck around until the interior redesign in 2008.
