I really should have done this a few days ago, but I'm here now.
My Buck$Zooka is overheating like a manifold in race tune and I didn't have the experience to properly swap out my injectors. 2000ca250 not only stepped up, but he climbed a mountain on my behalf. Stinky was a little stubborn in the Turbo and IPR department and 2000ca250 worked late into the night to make sure I could get back home - 70 miles away. The process sacrificed his garage floor to the oil gods and some knuckles to the band-aid gods, but I got home and Stinky is safe in the driveway until parts arrive. 2000ca250 represents the brotherhood that is the FTE community and he does it well. I'm one vote and I used it... I hope others can [LINK] to one of his posts and give him an "Attaboy" for sacrificing an entire day off work to aid a member in need.
Reps sent. Done and done. Exactly why im completely addicted to FTE!
You guys have all saved me countless hours and money getting my truck up to speed. And i know that if it were me on the side of the road... the collective has my back. And if the need ever arose... someone would be in my driveway wrench in hand ready to dive in... asking not but a cold brew in return. You fellas are my brothers... and 2000ca250 is the embodiment of that ideal.
but in all honesty, its no big deal. Considering I work in a bar and have to deal with people a lot, any chance to get my hands dirty with machinery I take. Absolutely love it. Also, dont let Rich fool you, he did his fair share. Not to mention he generously let me have his old turbo.
As far as I am concerned, this is about passing it on. I've been helped numerous times by people on this and another forum, so I do as much as I can to pass it on. My knowledge isnt quite as extensive as some on here, but if I've done it before, I can do it again.
Hopefully you can get those boots and clamps in Rich, cant wait to hear about the permagrin installed after cranking the tunes up!!!
That will be a whole different thread when I have some conclusions... but I have a sneak peek: No idle problems. None. Zilch. Nada. Silky smooth and it sounds very similar to before, but with the boquet of a big rig - including the idle whistle. ...snort...grunt...
First - very quiet idle now that the bubbles have settled out of the oil. Second - I yanked the red line off the wastegate and tried the 60e tune today... now I'm waiting for the negligent driving ticket from the traffic cam in Lynnwood, WA. For those that may have been within a 1/4 mile of that intersection... I humbly apologize for the scare/noise/smoke and I promise to keep Stinky on a leash until I'm on the open road. The noise and smoke wasn't so much the engine as it was the tires. Yeesh.
