Hello, I am looking at a 2005 excursion v10 limited. It has 85,000 on it and in really nice shape. Do the excursions have 1 ton running gear? Did the 2005 excursion ever come with the 5 speed auto like the superdutys did in 2005? Do they have the coil spring front end for sharper turing? Do they have the 3 valve v10 in them? Anything else to look for or keep in mind? Do you think 17,000 is to much for this vehicle? It has maintenance records like you wouldnt believe. Any advice or help would be appreciated.
The Excursion being in its last few months of production by 05, they never got the upgrades like the SD trucks. The 03-05 excursions got more options than the 2000 model. IMHO 17,000.00 for a gas ( nothing agenst gas motors) and its arleady getting up there in years so expect rust to be settling In. I would try to talk the seller way down. In my area 05 X's are going for about 10,500 gas and 14-16,000.00 diesel.

5 speed is only on the 6.0 Powerstroke.
They have 3/4 running gear, sort of, but less capable springs for the soccer moms. They only got the Dana 50 front axles in 4x4 instead of the 60's like the SD's went to. Same rear though.
The Excursion never went to the 3 valve V-10 in 2005 like the SD did. They all share the 2 valve.
Less than 17000 Excursions were made in 2005, it is the rarest year for Excursions and usually the most sought after after the 7.3 4x4's.
I Paid 14k for mine here SWFL several months back, a 05 v10 4x4 with 100k miles,,,, in excellent shape not a scratch and interior was brand new.. I felt it was a little high at the time but wanted it because of shape it was in... Only regret not finding a diesel, because I would love to tow more with it.....
If I could sell it and find a just as clean 7.3 I would..... But love it anyway.. Family loves it for our numerous out of state trips
Be ready for 7-8 mpg towing, 10 city and maybe 13 highway if you baby it. I hated the V-10 I had in a SD in 05 and it was even the 3 valve with a few n more ponies.

i can get 14 on the highway and no babying there. but daily i see 8-10mpg. my agv over almost 40k miles on three different V10 3:73 4x4s is about 9.5...cha ching! but i would not trade it for anything.
if its very clean and 80k miles i'd pay up to 14ish for it...low miles are hard to find.
as mentioned 05s only got the f-250 front end treatment but none of the other upgrades.
