I swapped to the "wrap around" hose just before I installed the DieselSite coolant filter setup on mine....The hose rubs aganst the filter cartridge itself enough that I really didn't like it, so I went back to the other hose and have about an 1/8" clearance....

Mine does this too and I don't care for it either. It's been on there for a couple years and doesn't seem to have worn into the hose at all.

Those installing their own should be aware of this and make sure to account for the tight fit with the round-the-belt hose.

I'm making my own bracket, and I am offsetting the filter toward the passenger side slightly to account for this.

Here's my DIY... You can see where the filter contacts my 'round the belt hose.

Travis, looks like you could fix that with a right-angle fitting (or even a 45) pointed backwards.

Good idea I'll look into that, thanks.

Edit: Looking at Greg's pics got me thinking- there is also a port on the top of my housing (not visible in pic). Maybe I'll use a 90 and move the return to there.

Mine is also contacting the around the belt hose so I glued a piece of teflon too the hose with contact cement.

I attempted to put a 90 on the top, but it looked really crappy. Just looked like a mess of plumbing pipes & fittings hodge-podged together. If I could have found a decent looking 90 (like an Earls fitting, or something similar) I would've used it.

Also, I didn't want to pay for a valve, so I just pinch the hose with some pinch off pliers when I'm changing the filter.

So the port on the top of the billet housing is on the return side of the filter element?

I don't know much about the billet housings. Can you see inside the housing to determine flow paths? I'd think there'd be some markings on it somewhere otherwise.

I'm using the same (carquest) housing as Guzzle. My "side" port is the inlet, and top port is outlet (return).

I don't know for sure but will definitely confirm that. It is offset so might in fact be on the inlet side.
