What kind of tool do I need to remove the flasher switch in my '70 F350. It looks like you need a 2 pronged tool. I tried a pick and a screw driver, no luck.
My 4-ways don't work. I got a new flasher but they still did not work so I assume the switch must be bad. If I have to I will add a 4 way flasher switch under the dash.
You talking about the bezel around the switch that holds it in the dash. Don't know the real tool, but always found a small screwdriver and tap it around. Might need a dash of WD40 to loosen any corrosion?

There are two different flashers, both look the same, have two prongs, but: The one used for the 4 way emergency flashers is a heavy duty unit, has a louder CLICK
The heavy duty 4 way flasher can be substituted for the T/S flasher (and was with trailer tow and for peeps that are deaf), but not the other way around.
The T/S flasher is a light duty unit, doesn't have enough "oomph" to operate the 4 ways. So, which flasher did you use for the 4 ways?
D1FZ-13350-A .. Heavy Duty Flasher (Motorcraft SF-552-B) / ALL 1961/91 FoMoCo vehicles.
T/S flasher located on the the backside of the instrument cluster at the upper left (drivers) side.
4 way flasher nestles into a bracket that is retained to the backside of the dash with one screw, a wire harness plugs into it.
C8UZ-17513-A .. 4 Way Flasher Switch & Wiper Switch **** / Retained by 358812-S2 .. #8 -32 Headless Set Screw.
Remove set screw, remove ****. Nestled inside the bezel is C1TZ-9A389-A .. Nut -O- / Insert small blade screwdriver on left side - tap with hammer to loosen it.
'Course, you won't have to go thru this rigamarole if you install the 4 way heavy duty flasher, cuz I betcha you installed the "weak sister" T/S flasher instead.

Thanks, Bill. The flasher I pulled out of the truck is an Autolite and it sez C8ZB-13350-B. The SAE # is J 945.
The one I got at the parts store is a Buss flasher. The number is 552/536, then it has 12V, 32 CP max 6.
Is the one I pulled from the truck a TS switch cause it has a 'B' instead of 'A'?
I am going out to the truck now to see what the TS flasher has written on it...
Marked: C8ZB-13350-B = Ford part number: C6AZ-13350-A = replaced by D1FZ-13350-A .. 4 Way Emergency Flasher (Motorcraft SF-552-B).
Thanks, Bill. I just got back from the parts store showed him the numbers and he gave me a heavy duty flasher. went out to try this one and it didn't work either so it must be the switch... or... I suspect another problem. I found a mouse nest up under the dash... perhaps they were chewing on some wires. I got a circuit tester, too so I will see if there is a break in the circuit. Perhaps it would be easiest to run a new wire instead of trying to find were little critters chewed...
Any electrical problem should start with a test light and tracing the power path. See if you have power to the switch and power out when you turn it on. Then see if you have power to the flasher. Go from there.
