Tranny question #2
I have a tranny question(s), Is a 4 speed w/granny low a reliable transmission? The trannny was in my 78 F150 2wd when I got the truck. Then I thought the gas mielage would be bad with the manual. So I decided to go with a automatic tranny all I had was a c4. Well, after finding out that a c4 wasn't ment for a truck and that they were not very reliable, I wanted to get a c6. But after talking with some freinds they told me that the 4speed was alot better for what I wanted to do with my truck which was (being 16yrs old) wanting to smoke my tires and race my freinds. I want a reliable tranny that will put the power to the gound without eating up alot of gas money. So which tranny do you guys think would be best for my application? the 4speed or the c6? so far the 4speed seems to be the best bet but I want to be sure I use the right tranny. any advice is greatly appreaciated thank you.

An AOD is probably the best for you, but a ZF is better than an NP-435 or BW T-18/19.

I cheked out the sites you listed motive gear seemed to be the most helpful. MY tranny is a T/19 beaceus T/18's were only in the 56 -73 ford trucks and my truck is a 78. So can this tranny be drivin normally like a 3spd without useing the granny low unless pulling something? Thanks.
