cummins engine should i take it?

good day i have a mechanic freind that tore the tranny out of his 95 1ton dodge service truck and for 1800 for a used trans or 5000 for a rebuilt he went with a chev/duramax so i have a chance to get this engine with every thing [the whole truck complete with inter-cooler new turbo vacume pump alt ect for 1000 + the swap kit from ford cummins and a rebuild kit for 1300 i am thinking of installing it either in my f350 s/c camper/boat unit or if any one has ever done this before into my 79 bronco if it would be easier due to the cross menber issue on the 2wd
what would you do? as its going to cost me 35 to 4000 to rebuild a 460 anyways

Go for it. I know I would if I had the money to do so.

well i decided to buy this truck do a rebuild on it and giver a try this spring i can get a kit for about $750 my hd mechanic freinds labour would be free or very cheap to install the parts the machine work might be pricy depending if it needs a re-bore or head work the guy he bought it from said it was rebuilt 200,000 km [120,000 miles ago] but it is blowing oil out the vac pump above 2000 rpm so who knows for sure but a rebuild should fix all that and if all else fails i can always sell the engine fordcummins.com will sell me the install kit for about $1400 but i have to consider the value this engine would add to the truck and being able to hook to my c6/gearvenders overdrive would simplifie things a whole lot as a newer od trans rebuilt is about $4000 with a stand alone computer to run the electronics and a s/c i just bought has a 3.54 rear end and if i switch with the 3.73s and the gearvenders that should put me in the 1800 to 2000 range on the highway perfect for the tork range of this engine and i think the "show stopper" effect would be awsome to open the hood and see this engine painted cummins cream very clean and all detailed up mmmm wheres spring time!!
